About Eprintheads.com
This wear life advantage is due to a number of unique material and process enhancements
including a protective diamond like carbon (DLC) coating. Diamond like coating provides a
surface hardness equivalent to Rockwell 85 to 90. In addition, the coefficient of friction
for this coating is very low. These qualities reduce the wear on the resistor element
caused by the abrasive action of paper, media, ribbon, etc on the printhead surface during
printing.
Benefits that have helped define major differences between Eprintheads.com print heads and
its competitors are:
1) Unequaled abrasive life of 100 kilometers is twice as long as the rated wear
life of our largest competitors.
2) Unequaled thermal life of 100 million pulses, once again twice the stated pulse life of
our largest competitors.
3) "One hundred percent dot duty cycle." Provides the user with the capability
of addressing all elements for the highest clarity, print accuracy, and reproduction.
4) Gold wire bonds versus pressure contact between printed circuit board and substrate for
greater signal integrity.
5) Hard black epoxy and/or silicon clear coating protects gold wire bonds and sensitive
electronic circuitry against moisture and harsh environments.

How
to buy the right print head: |
|
Obtaining the correct
information about your thermal printer will ensure you purchase the correct print head.
The information you should have is:
1) Printer brand.
2) Printer model number. Usually located on the rear of the printer is a serial number
label. It normally details the exact model number.
3) The print head DPI (dots per inch). Printer manufactures historically have made it
difficult for the end user to know exactly what the print head DPI of a given printer is.
Check the printer manual to obtain the correct DPI.

How to install a print head: |
|
Print head
installation is relativity easy. Most printer manufactures strive very hard to make it
user replaceable. Your printer manual normally contains instructions for replacing
the print head. We have generic instructions available for downloading. Note: These are
for reference only.

Cleaning: |
|
| Isopropyl Alcohol may be used to
periodically remove paper residue from the printhead. Apply with cotton swab or soft
cloth, using due care. Frequency of cleaning depends upon paper type and mechanical
factors, and should be evaluated in a prototype system under normal operating conditions.
Do not use abrasive materials in cleaning. Only clean when printhead has been de-energized
and cooled to room ambient to avoid thermal shock damage. Print heads should be cleaned at
every ribbon change to extend life. |
